Today is the first in the last 3 days I haven’t had to dress up.
What is this world coming to?
Friday I meet with a pastor friend for breakfast, had a wedding dress rehersal on Friday evening then went to a viewing down in Hagerstown.
So much for a day off! :)
Saturday I had some meetings in the afternoon and then performed the wedding at 6PM.
Dan & Sherri Bogle have been attending United now for almost a year and Saturday I had the priviliege of uniting them together as husband and wife.
Sunday’s I hardly ever get nervous but for weddings I do because I don’t want to mess up anybody’s big day.
Sherri was only nervous because she was afraid I didn’t own a suit and I’d show up in jeans and a t-shirt.
Dan & I kept saying we thought that was a great idea but we’d compromise and get those tuxedo t-shirts…she didn’t find it quite as amusing.
The ceremony went well except I must have said something strange during the rings part because Dan shot me a look like, “You really want me to repeat that?”
I’ll have to ask him after their honeymoon is over.
At the reception I arrived late because I had to lock up the church and so Lisa and I sat down where our name placard was.
Apparently the photographer’s assistant thought that was her seat and that’s all I heard the rest of the night…how the pastor had stolen her seat.
You could tell she was joking but only partially so.
After yesterday’s Experience’s I went to lunch with Aaron and his family as well as Dan & Jan Krull at Red Robin.
We stayed pretty late and I got home in plenty of time I thought to get things posted online before heading off to Earl’s mother-in-laws funeral.
I thought…I’d better double check the time.
Oops it started at 4PM…it was 3:14 and Mapquest said it would take 45 minutes to get there.
I quickly changed clothes and started flying down the road.
Mapquest had me going over the river and through the woods…the problem was I saw grandma twice.
Yep good ole Mapquest at one point gave me directions that resulted in me making a big loop.
I just took a chance on another road and luckily it appeared I was back on track.
Followed the directions….and it delievered me to someone’s house….yep that’s not a church.
As I pull back out onto the road (by the way…this is up in the mountains), I spot a liquor store and a man about to enter.
I pull up and ask if he knows where the church is at.
Let’s just say this wasn’t his first trip to the store that day…he was lit up pretty good.
“Oh yeah I know where that’s at…” and he proceeds to give me a series of directions.
Oh my…directions from a drunk guy…who knows where I’ll end up?
Turns out he was at least close enough I was able to figure it out.
Which means Mapquests new marketing slogan should be…Count on us for directions unless you can find a drunk man…he’ll be much more accurate.
In any case, the service was nice…continue to pray for Earl and Kim as they transition to life without Kim’s mom.
Went home then and watched on the DVR the Redskins stomp Dallas…yes! Earl is a big Cowboys fan and I thought for sure I’d be hearing about it today, but alas I have bragging rights for awhile.
We’re both huge University of Maryland supporters so at least we’re both happy about the Terps putting a hurt’in on Clemson.
