Just got done posting on-line the ad for our new Pastor of Creative Arts position.
The last time I did one of these I had 150+ applications within the first week to wade through. Hopefully this time some of the requirements/wording will have people weed themselves out…at least that’s my hope.
My hope and prayer is that we can have someone in place by the fall.
This has been another one of those weird weeks where I’m trying to cram a lot into a short amount of time. Later tonight I leave for the Unplugged conference down in DC.
It’s being hosted by my friend Mark Batterson who is truly one of the most gifted pastors and writers in Christianity today. It’s been a true honor to get to hang out with Mark on a number of occasions and I can’t wait to be together with him again in a conference atmosphere.
I’ll also get to hang out with some other ministry friends from around the country so it will be like a family reunion in some ways.
Add into the mix that yesterday was Lisa’s birthday and it makes for a pretty busy schedule.
Obviously a part of my week has been devoted to making sure this week’s Experience blows you away. I can’t wait for you to hear Ed Young’s message to you…it’s incredible!
I was asked again yesterday by someone if it bothered me that people have been enjoying hearing from someone other than me. My response…”heck no.”
One of the criticisms that I periodically hear is that United seems like the Gilbert show. In some ways I take that as a compliment because it means that the God given dream for what United is to look like is coming through. However, I also understand what they’re meaning…and to that I want to be clear that this is all about Jesus….people coming to know Him and people growing to become like Him. If that happens through me great…if it comes through someone else great…in fact if I ever felt that I was hindering what God wanted to do in and through CFCOG or in any other ministry for that matter, I’d gladly step away.
So that was a long answer to say…No…I hope you’re being blessed by these awesome men of God and I hope we can provide other opportunities like this in the future.
Speaking of the future…I’ve been taking these few weeks off from preaching to get further ahead on messages for the future. In fact, I was briefly outlining some ideas for a series in January the other day.
In any case, God has some REALLY exciting things He wants to do in and through us through the remainder of the year!
July 13th I’ll be making a huge announcement that will really stretch our faith! Make sure you’re there and invite some people along with you so they can hear how to get on board with the incredible plans that God has for us.
I’ll try to give some up-dates while I’m at the conference…in the meantime do something today to give the devil a black-eye!
