- I’ll stretch this to include Thanksgiving.
- Made 2 stops on Thanksgiving, but we had to leave the last one because Lisa was developing a stomach virus.
- Never good when the smell of food makes you queasy.
- With Lisa sick and having rested on Thursday, I was able to use Friday to get a lot of work done in the morning, then…
- …traveled down to Baltimore to my Uncle’s new house for dinner with my dad’s side of the family.
- I enjoyed sharing at dinner with my cousins who are in high school some of my high school mistakes.
- My mom is still in shock.
- On the way home I set the cruise control on I-70 and never had to turn off until Hagerstown…I wonder what the record is for most miles driving uninteruppted on cruise?
- Please don’t tell me if you know…I’ll be obsessed with breaking it.
- Saturday I spent most of the day at the church. First the worship team practiced since the normal Thursday night was cancelled for T’Giving.
- Things went much smoother than we expected getting the team acclimated to the in-ear monitoring.
- Long-term I think they’ll all like it, but for now there is still some adjustment period because in-ears are so “honest”. In other words if you hit a wrong note or go off-key for a note, there is no doubt about it.
- Got the team pizza then for lunch and we all hung out for awhile and figured out our holiday practice schedule since the holidays are all hitting on Thursday this year.
- No wonder I’m starting a series this weekend called, “I Hate the Holidays”. :)
- In the afternoon, I sat in for the practices for the Hanging of the Greens service. I got to run the lights in the sanctuary for the first time since they were installed. Not quite as elaborate as what we have in United, but fun none the less.
- Sunday I got to the church at 7:30am and left at 9pm with only a Fuddrucker’s break in-between…
- …loved it! It’s rare that I have a whole day like that where I just get to serve behind the scenes…I enjoy them on occassion.
- Thought Aaron did a fantastic job helping take the Hanging of the Greens to a whole new level.
- I was really proud of him and the team that Judy, Michelle and Heidi had assembled!
- If I’m being honest, sometimes there has been a cringe factor in various services I’ve seen over in the sanctuary, but not with this one. Great job to all who were involved…keep up the great work!
- Best line of the weekend had to go to my best friend, Andy. At lunch yesterday he was “upset” with me because in 2007 on my Thanksgiving blog he was #3 on my things I was thankful for, but in 2008, he had slipped down to a tie for #8.
- Andy has a subtle sense of humor, but he was coming up with some funny stuff.
- Note to Andy….wait until it’s 2050 and in my top 50 list you just miss the cut at #51.
- Of course by then I’ll be 77 years old, so I’ll be lucky to remember 50 things.
- Planned on watching the Redskins game last night on the DVR to unwind, but one of our members is a big Giants fan and accidentally let me know the outcome at the service, so I was stuck watching some of the Sunday night game, but I was so tired I fell asleep on the couch anyway.
- Today has been a great sermon prep day (got the last message done for the new series) and now it’s time to head over to the church for a meeting.
- Stay tuned Tuesday for Wednesday for an up-date on the Contagious Christmas Challenge.
