New web-site and blog

July 23, 2009 by Gilbert Leave a Comment

Some of you have already figured this out because you’re on the new site and made your way here.   Others of you get the blog through a feed so you have no clue that it happened…In any case we have a new web-site and my blog is now being hosted off-site.

The web address is still www.unitedworshipexperience.org.  On it you will notice a much cleaner look and since most of you voted with your mouse, Facebook and the United fan page is now the way to leave your comments about anything United.  Check out the new site and let us know what you think.  Thanks to my wife, Lisa for another fantastic site…this is her third one she’s done for United and it looks great!

As for my blog, it is still linked off the United site, but you can now reach it directly at www.GilbertThurston.com.  There are some new features and you can still leave comments.   All the old posts are listed, but not everything has been tagged yet so watch for that in the future.  Thanks to Ann and Allison Hospelhorn for all your hard work getting things transferred!

For those who have an RSS feeder for the blog and/or Podcasts of the sermons, make sure you go to the new site(s) and up-date your feeds.

Things I’m Excited About…

May 4, 2009 by Gilbert Leave a Comment

  • Going to the Caps game tonight with Andy.
  • That God has promised never again to flood the entire earth (it’s pouring rain outside as I type this).
  • That I’ve had about a half-dozen couples approach me during the Re:married series saying they want to get married instead of continuing to live together in sin.
  • That other testimonies are coming in of broken marriages being restored.
  • That Lisa and I practice what I preach.  :)
  • That John Winebrenner, the founder of our denomination and whom I’m reading about in a biography right now, was such a rebel.  He was criticized for his methods but yet he was passionate about reaching people for Christ no matter what, even when it meant he got kicked out of his church.
  • That the same Holy Spirit who inspired such faith in men like Winebrenner resides in us.
  • That even more of the questions you wanted answers to about marriage, dating, relationships and sex will be answered this week as we wrap up our Re:married series.
  • That our next series, entitled, HOSTAGE will most likely be one of the most life-changing series that we’ve done yet.
  • That vacation is now less than 1 month away!
  • That I get to pastor such an awesome group of people who are more concerned with making a difference for eternity than money and material possessions!

    Important Up-date about this Weekend

May 1, 2009 by Gilbert Leave a Comment

    United attenders and guests,

Due to some unforseen complications, we are having to pull some of our creative content for this weekend that I have been promising all week long.  I feel bad because all week long I’ve been promising you one thing and now you’re going to get another, but God is still in control and I still expect big things to happen on Sunday as a result of everything that will still be happening in the Experience.  So please still invite people, just don’t use any of the promises that I’ve made in the past week.  See you Sunday!

    Gilbert

PS…it will still be PG-13 so use caution.

    New United Slogan

    Blog stats 4-14-09

Not sure why I found this so funny, but the picture above represents every city where the United web-site has gotten a hit in the past 24 hours. Looking at it made me want to come up with a new slogan…

The United Worship Experience…loved everywhere but the Mountain Time Zone.

    This Sunday

April 9, 2009 by Gilbert Leave a Comment

Hey thanks for RSVP’ing for the Experience this Sunday.  We had our run through last night and it is going to be incredible!  I have a few favors to ask of you…

    1. Please continue inviting like never before…even that person that’s turned you down a million times.
    2. Please pray for the team, myself and all those who will be attending.
    3. Please BE IN YOUR SEATS at least 5 minutes before the Experience starts.  The beginning is going to be incredible…you won’t want to miss it and quite frankly it will be hard to find a seat during it and would be distracting to others.
    4. Once you find your seat if you can sit in the middle of a row that would be great.  I expect it’s going to be a madhouse and the easier it is for our ushers to find aisle seats for our guests, the better and smoother things will be on Sunday.
    5. Did I mention yet to invite someone?  I’ve been hearing of people using Facebook to invite, text messaging, e-mail and yes even the good old fashioned face-to-face.  I will be giving a clear message on the whether the resurrection was an Urban Legend or a true historical event.  If it was a true historical event then the implications are huge.  Do your part this week to make sure that by Sunday afternoon hell will be a little less crowded in the future!

Thanks…love you all and hope you have a great week…I’ll see you and your guests on Sunday!
